Hebrews 1 vs 9 says this "You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
As a result of 'choosing' to love righteousness and hate sin the promise is that we would be more glad, happy, content than all our companions. The reason the church is not a happy church these days is because we have tolerated lawlessness and not loved righteousness.
The Hebrew word for hate is the word miseĊ and it means 1) to hate, pursue with hatred, detest
2) to be hated, detested
To hate sin is nothing less than a passionate hatred that would actually go after the very thing you hate so as to destroy it. Jehu hated sin so much he refused to rest until he had utterly wiped it out!
We cannot just say we hate sin, because without the hatred inside of us driving us towards a holy wiping out of that sin in our personal lives and then in the nation around us we make ourselves a liar.
Loving righteousness is a daily decision to make righteous choices that honour the Cross of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I am praying that the Holy Spirit would increase my love for righteousness and increase my hatred towards ALL sin in my own life and in the churches of our great nation and the fruit of that would be a holy pursuit of God and a HAPPY CHURCH!
God bless you all
