My time in Uganda

My time in Uganda with Compassion UK

How can I ever be the same? How can my heart possibly remain the same?

I have just returned from a 8 day trip to Uganda as part of a 21 strong team of Compassion delegates. I have experienced things I wish I had not, I have learnt things I am now better of having learnt, and I am moved with passion to do more for this great ministry.

I left the UK having questions in my heart and the thought of becoming an Ambassador for this ministry I had heard so much about. The dictionary describes the word ‘ambassador’ as someone who has authority to bring a message and represent another. As a man of strong convictions I would take that role very seriously and would never put my name, my time or my efforts to someone or something that I did not fully agree with. After just 8 days in Uganda, visiting the projects, meeting the team, seeing the children, experiencing the poverty and hearing testimonies of lives so gloriously impacted and changed forever I cannot say YES quick enough to becoming an official ambassador for Compassion.

My wife and I met our sponsored child Joy and her large family whilst out there and I was constantly reduced to tears of sadness (for all the children unsponsored) and tears of joy (for all those who were)  and I am now rejoicing with a loving heavenly Father for all those precious children and their families who now have the future of a great education, clothing, food and clean water as well as the love of Christ practically demonstrated and not just ‘preached’ but I am also weeping over the countless others still hoping, still praying and still dreaming of a better life.

My wife and I are so grateful for the opportunity that Compassion gave to us and we are determined to do as much as we can to see more children rescued from the evil of poverty.

1 child at a time, and so we have decided to sponsor another child ourselves, but, more than that, we will raise awareness and promote this incredible life giving ministry as we travel the UK and preach about a God who saves, heals and delivers. Our ministry ‘Storming the Nations’ is absolutely delighted and extremely humbled to be offered a relationship with Compassion and the chance to publicly say YES to endorsing and cheering on all that Compassion is doing and plans to do. Together we can end poverty 1 child, 1 life at a time.

Can you help by sponsoring a Compassion child and letting other’s know of this ministry?

Here is a poem I wrote whilst out in Uganda

   Just £21

Just £21, you’ll hardly notice it’s gone

but to an African child it becomes a worship song

It brings life out of death and hope for the next breath, just £21

That’s all that it takes, to educate a child and to give them a break,

clean water and food and clothes on their back, just £21

the LORD will give you it back

Just £21 - 70p a day, to save a child’s life and to show them the way

The way out of poverty, the way out of sin, the way to a future and the way to the King

Just £21, will turn tears into smiles and save an African child from walking for miles

Just £21, possibly the key to revival..

At least for the child who drinks from the Nile

 £21......
